I visited my dad, and the facility is nice and the staff is very friendly.
I have been calling all day never answer just want updates on my mom because we can’t be there everyday because I have to work how does someone find out about their family if nurses don’t answer the goddam phone! It’s ridiculous .
They Truly seem to Care about your Loved Ones!! They Aren’t Sticklers about Visiting Hours, so if you wanna Stay Late (or even Stay Over!), they’re Great about it, and even offer to bring g you anything to make you more comfortable! They are Very Attentive to the patients; not yo mention the fact that they are EXTREMELY PATIENT with even the most “Difficult” individuals!! And Johnny, at the Front Desk, is such a HUGE ASSET to this place!! In a world that has become SOOO Impersonal, Apathetic and Riddled in AI; HE shows the Humanity, Personality, Kindness and Professionalism that is LACKING in MOST Places as of late!! Highly Recommend this place!! It is So Refreshing and Reassuring to This Caregiver!! 😁💝
If I could give Kern River TC a 10 I would!! I can’t say enough good things about this facility. Let’s start with Liz in admissions. She went above and beyond her call of duty to get my mom admitted. She makes herself available at all times and cares about the patients. Ariel in admissions was also very helpful in filling out the paperwork needed for admission and explained everything really well. I can’t say enough good things about Angel. She is an Angel and has been the best social worker assigned to us in this latest trial with mom. Sara also was a tremendous help. All of the staff members are nice and helpful. The physical therapy department has all kinds of machines and great therapists. If you think you are coming here to stay in a bed all day like my mom originally thought, you would be wrong. My mom wasn’t walking at all prior to her stay and she is now. My mom has friends who were patients here that all spoke highly of the place. If I were you, I would ignore any of the negative reviews you have read. I just don’t think they are true.
Likely the most efficient run Rehab Facility in Kern County. From moment of arrival through 30 days of care the experience was without equal. What a compliment to the local care industry. Thanks for all you do The Russell’s

Needs to be investigated by the states worst place ever to put any family members. I beg you guys to not put your loved one here. They are completely unprofessional. Medical malpractice for sure.
In 2021 I became ill with Covid. After being in the ICU on a ventilator for 6 weeks I was a quadriplegic. After months of rehab I was able to return home and eventually return to work
I have personally been there twice and I could’ve never asked for a better safe clean place from case management to staff wonderful kind patient and understanding they met all my needs above and beyond. I fear going anywhere else thank you, Kern River Transitional Care.
Updated: staff are very nice and working hard. Physical rehab is great. Sadly, like everything else this is a business and businesses exist to make a profit leaving patients waiting long wait times as there are not enough staff. It’s a hard job and these employees need to be appreciated more.

Incorrect clinical information given to family, nursing staff consistently unavailable for questions, quality of care lacking compassion, medication doses not given, communication lacking and only cares comes to discharge. Will never recommend.

When my wife and I arrived at Kern River, she was unable walk, eat, or even sleep. Thanks to their great PT program, after about 5-8 days we started seeing amazing results! She was able to sleep, eat, and even walk again!! The nursing staff have been very kind, patient, and have made us feel like family. The entire staff are truly second to none. The have been here for us 24/7 and we couldn’t be more grateful!

My father was transferred here after having two strokes and he was doing better before he got here but the people here are so negligent and my father sat in his poop for hours before we came and saw him and they fed him so late his health dramatically declined in one day and now he is on the ventilator in the icu. Think twice!!! About where you send your family..

They do not tell the responsible party of patient what kind of tests are done to your loved ones while they are in there. I found out on the non Medicare bill everything that was done that I was never told or asked about. To top it off my loved one came home with bruises up and down both legs. The place looks nice but behind closed doors no one knows what really goes on until you get the non insurance bill of what your loved one’s insurance had paid for.

They allowed my Mother to lose 38 lbs. from 126 to 88lbs. Said every day she ate 70 to 80 % of her food. Then wanted to transfer her out as non compliant. She recovered some of the weight she lost once we got her home about 12 lbs.. they don’t care it’s a job and they will cover up when they are lacking on care.. you must watch your family while they are there
Beautiful place people Very friendly !
I left four stars because I haven’t seen the whole facility, and the other reviews left me scratching my head. That’s because so far I’m happy with everything. My mom was having a really hard time with the hospitals. She’s a fussy patient with a lot of anxiety. The hospitals left her in her own filth and made her miserable. When she got to Kern River they cleaned her, they feed her whenever she wants, don’t withhold comfort medicine and will tend to her in the middle of the night. The other patients I saw were seemingly content, music playing, bingo, lots of light and green to look at with the landscaping outside being satisfactory. Lots of room to wander and a pretty warm and comfortable environment. Church services and ministers personality visiting the rooms. She likes her roommate and they get along well. She’s the most comfortable, and clean and happy Ive seen her in 3 weeks. She doesn’t feel alone and scared anymore. They’ve been very tentative to her and I have a huge sense of relief.
If you have a family member here, please check on them. Please do not be fooled by the facilities’ new appearance and please do not be fooled by what the staff tell you. Though the initial atmosphere is welcoming- this quickly fades as you interact with both the staff and patients. There are three different wings- A, B, and C. My experience was in the B wing. B wing is where patients who need around the clock care are housed- many cannot feed themselves, are incontinent, and are immobile. Every patient here is red, rashy, and raw from sitting in their own excrements for many hours of the day. Basic patient requests are ignored (water, bathing, and teeth brushing which is almost non existent here). Basic nail care is also ignored (many patients have toenails so overgrown they are curving into their skin). They consider some patients non-verbal or unaware of their surroundings because they speak a different language and staff cannot understand them (or choose to not have the patience to do so). Staff is also nowhere to be found when they are needed- LVN/RN’s hide in the bathrooms and break rooms, and the CNA’s are clueless as to what their job expectations are.
